Meo Vac Students Win Awards in the Message to a Green Future 2050 Competition

Participating in the Message to a Green Future 2050 competition, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the For a Green Future Fund – Thiện Tâm Fund (Vingroup), two Mong ethnic students from Mèo Vạc District achieved outstanding results.

Thò Mí Hồng (Grade 7A2) and Thò Thị Vân (Grade 6A3) from **Cán Chu Phìn Semi-boarding Ethnic Minority Lower Secondary School**, Mèo Vạc District, won Third Prize and a Consolation Prize, respectively. Their submission included an essay and a video on the themes of water scarcity during the dry season in the rocky plateau, the hardships faced by highland communities, and their hopes for a future without water shortages. They also highlighted the need to preserve the Buckwheat plant in Hà Giang’s rocky plateau, as excessive use of herbicides threatens its existence, and envisioned a future where local people could prosper from Buckwheat honey production.

The competition consisted of three rounds: the provincial/city level from November 2024 to December 31, 2024, and the national level from January to the end of February 2025, including preliminary and final rounds. It attracted over 16,680 entries from students across 664 schools in 51 provinces and cities. The organizers selected the top 300 finalists, with 236 individuals and groups receiving awards.
This marks the third time in the past two years that students from Cán Chu Phìn Semi-boarding Ethnic Minority Lower Secondary School have achieved high rankings in national-level competitions.
