Can Ty citadel
Cỡ chữ Tương phản
Located right next to the road from Quan Ba to Yen Minh District Towns, Can Ty citadel was built during the French colonial period, at the beginning of the twentieth century. This is one of the many military buildings that the French Army has built in the Dong Van UNESCO Global Geopark since the French occupation of Ha Giang in 1887.

This historical site includes a defensive wall of about 60 meters in length, 3 meters in height, a triangular defensive room and a fortress. A small unit had lived there, including French soldiers and local soldiers (tonkineses rifles). Standing in harmony with natural scenery, the Can Ty system of fortress and walls was meant to control the strategic route along the Mien River canyon that connects Quan Ba and Yen Minh districts. In such a favorable location, it can be said that one person can resist thousands of people.

Combined with other geosites such as the rock forest, Mien River canyon, the geological boundary between the older limestone and the younger sandstone, siltstone and shale, archaeological site of the Paleolithic age or the H’Mong brocade cooperative etc., this is an interesting destination of the Geopark.
